About Us

Hope Vet is owned and run by Kristine Young, a veterinarian, and Juliet Sternberg, a social worker. Hope began operating on a mobile basis in the fall of 2001 using the combined skills of a veterinarian and a social worker to serve older, homebound people with pets. For over 4 years now, Hope has been at 390 Atlantic Avenue, encompassing a modern facility with 6 full-time doctors, a social worker, 20 nurses, an animal massage therapist and numerous support staff.

Our Philosophy
We believe in a holistic approach to veterinary medicine using complementary medicine. By this we mean that we address the entirety of the pet’s emotional, physical and environmental needs. We also believe in providing support and education for owners in order that they can care effectively for their pets from the beginning to the end of the pet’s life. Our practice of using complementary medicine means that we utilize both western and eastern treatments according to a patient’s specific needs. Wherever possible, we try to use natural products and supplements to treat conditions (especially chronic conditions), but will also prescribe standard medicines if this is the most appropriate treatment.

AAHA Accredited Member
In April 2006 we attained American AnimalHospital Association accreditation. This means that we are in accordance with the highest standards available for small animal veterinary practice. There are only 3,000 AAHA accredited practices in the USA (about 17% of all practices) that voluntarily meet or exceed the Association’s standards for patient care, equipment, and quality procedures. As part of our accreditation, we are regularly evaluated by an AAHA consultant to assure continuing compliance. AAHA standards are recognized around the world as the benchmark for quality care in veterinary medicine.
